AI Governance Conferences USA 2027: A Buyer's Guide
How to choose US AI governance events across Washington, New York and the wider enterprise market.

AI governance conferences in the United States are becoming more useful because governance itself is becoming more operational.
The market now spans NIST frameworks, evaluation, model risk, security, assurance, procurement, board oversight and public-sector deployment. Those are related problems, but they do not create one homogeneous event audience.
Start with the governance decision
A risk leader implementing an enterprise control framework needs a different conference from a policy team tracking federal developments. Technical teams may care most about evaluation and monitoring. Boards need oversight and accountability.
Choose the problem before choosing the event.
Washington: standards and public-sector implementation
Washington has a structural advantage in governance. NIST, federal agencies, contractors, security communities and policy organisations create a market where standards and implementation meet.
NIST says AI RMF 1.0 is being revised and its 2026 TEVV-Athlon draft extends the evaluation conversation across statistical ML, large language models, multimodal and agentic systems.
That makes evaluation a particularly important conference theme for 2027.
New York: regulated enterprise governance
New York adds financial services, insurance, professional services and major corporate buyers. Governance discussions there are often closer to model risk, procurement and production deployment.
What a serious programme should contain
Look for system inventories, risk classification, evaluation, human oversight, incident management, vendor governance and evidence from deployed systems.
American Commerce Review's analysis of the emerging governance profession is useful context: the market is shifting from principles toward tools and professional practice.
Avoid governance theatre
A programme made entirely of senior policy panels can be interesting without helping an organisation implement anything.
The strongest events put engineers, risk leaders, legal teams and executives into the same cases.
